The PIVOT Lab founding cohort begins September 10. Applications close September 1.

The Imaginal
A Different Intelligence

You are operating on a fraction
of your creative bandwidth.
Most accomplished people have developed two intelligences well: analytical and emotional. There is a third — the imaginal — that most have barely touched.

Expanding it changes what's possible. Not just in how you navigate complexity. In how you create, connect, and feel genuinely alive inside an evolving world.
What Imaginal Intelligence Is
Not magical thinking.
A real capacity — and a largely untapped one.
Imaginal intelligence is your natural capacity to perceive through symbol, metaphor, and non-linear insight. It operates in the spaces between certainty and possibility — where breakthrough solutions actually live, where genuine creativity originates, where the emerging future can be sensed before it's visible.

It isn't soft or woo. It isn't the opposite of rigor. It's a different register of intelligence — one that the analytical mind can't access and that emotional intelligence alone can't reach.

Every time you dream, you're accessing it. Every genuine creative breakthrough draws from it. Every moment of knowing something before you can explain it is imaginal intelligence at work. Most people have learned to dismiss these signals. This work takes them seriously.

Analytical intelligence
Logic, reasoning, frameworks, data. The intelligence most trained and most rewarded. Extraordinarily useful — and insufficient alone for the complexity we're navigating.
Emotional intelligence
Reading people, relationships, group dynamics. Essential for leadership. Developed by most serious practitioners. Also insufficient alone for what this moment requires.
Imaginal intelligence
Perception through symbol, metaphor, and non-linear insight. The source of genuine creativity. The capacity to sense what's emerging. Largely untapped in most accomplished people — and increasingly essential.
The rational mind got us here.
It won't get us where we need to go.
Why It Matters Now
We are operating at a civilizational threshold. The problems we face cannot be solved by the same order of thinking that created them. This isn't a metaphor — it's a description of what's actually required.

Expanding imaginal intelligence is not a personal development project. It is a response to what this moment is asking of us. The creativity, the genuine connection to life, the capacity to sense and move with what's emerging — these are not luxuries. They are the navigational capacities the future requires.

And they are available. Most people are simply not yet using them.
The Source of Creativity
Genuine creativity doesn't come from analytical recombination. It comes from imaginal perception — the capacity to receive what hasn't yet been thought, to sense patterns before they're nameable, to bring the new into being rather than rearranging the old.
Connection to Life
The imaginal is the register in which we feel genuinely connected — to ourselves, to others, to the living world. Developing it doesn't just improve performance. It changes the quality of being alive. Nourishment replaces depletion. Aliveness replaces management.
Navigation
Beyond Logic
In genuinely uncertain territory, logic can only work with what it already knows. The imaginal can sense what's emerging — the weak signal, the pattern before it's visible, the direction that can't yet be proven but can be trusted. This is the navigational intelligence this moment requires.
"We don't need more rational. We need more imaginal."
Sonja Blignaut, Creator of Waycraft — from a conversation on The PIVOT podcast
Not instead of rigour — alongside it.
The two together produce a quality of navigation that neither can reach alone.
Two Ways In
These can be explored separately or together — each is complete on its own.
Two ways of developing
Imaginal Intelligence deliberately.
Imaginal intelligence develops through all of The PIVOT work — through somatic practice, relational inquiry, and sustained attention to what the body and field are signalling. These two practices accelerate and deepen that development for those who are ready to work with them directly.
Natural Access

Dream Work
Your dreams are already offering guidance — about your leadership challenges, your strategic decisions, the complex dynamics you're navigating. Most people have learned to dismiss them as noise. This work takes them seriously.
Dreamwork isn't interpretation in the traditional sense. It's active dialogue — entering the imagery of a dream and letting it reveal its intelligence directly. The symbols, the figures, the landscapes: each carries real information that the analytical mind can't access any other way.
-
Developing the capacity to receive non-linear guidance
-
Working with recurring imagery and its leadership relevance
-
Active imagination — dialogue with dream figures
-
Integrating imaginal insight into waking navigation
No prior experience required. No substances involved. Available as a standalone practice or alongside any other PIVOT work.
Amplified Exploration

Expanded States
You can develop profound imaginal intelligence without ever working with expanded states. Dreamwork alone will take you deep. But for those who feel genuinely called to this edge — and I mean called, not merely curious — expanded states can serve as remarkable accelerators.
What makes them valuable is their capacity to amplify the imaginal processes you're already engaging — the same symbolic language, the same dynamic patterns, the same creative intelligence — but with an intensity and clarity that can compress years of development into a single well-held experience.
-
Preparation and intention-setting before any experience
-
Working with licensed practitioners in legal environments
-
Integration sessions translating insight into sustained capacity
-
Connecting expanded state experience to the Pivot framework
The experience isn't the point. Integration is. Without rigorous integration, even profound experiences remain interesting rather than transformative.
Welcome to
Imaginal Intelligence
The intelligence that takes you far beyond the edges of logic
Here's what I've learned after decades in intelligence work, Fortune 500 consulting, and deep consciousness exploration: There's an intelligence beyond logic that most accomplished leaders never access. You've mastered analytical thinking. You've developed emotional intelligence. But there's a third intelligence—what I call imaginal intelligence—that could fundamentally change how you navigate the complexity we're all facing.
The Practices
Stand alone or alongside any of the other work.
The Imaginal isn't a separate track or a deeper tier. It's a distinct offering that works on its own for the right person, and that deepens any of the other work when added to it.

Someone in The PIVOT Lab can bring imaginal practices into the between-session work. Someone in 1:1 coaching can add dreamwork as a parallel thread. Someone in Tier 1 can incorporate expanded states as an optional deepening. Someone in the Commons can begin with dreamwork before committing to anything else.

The imaginal is already present in all of The PIVOT work. These practices simply make it more explicit, more deliberate, and more developed.
